Canyon Light — Gallatin River in Autumn

One bend downstream, the Gallatin reveals itself differently. The river widens, the current quickens, and the canyon wall on the right face catches the afternoon sun at an angle that turns the limestone gold — warm and theatrical against the building storm clouds that have followed Jess Lee up the valley all afternoon. The conifers above the cliff line are still deep summer green, the willows at the waterline have gone amber and yellow, and the river runs that particular shade of blue-green that only clear, cold mountain water achieves in full autumn light.
Jess Lee positioned himself low on the rocky bank, letting the foreground boulders anchor the composition and draw the eye upstream into the canyon. The geometry of the image is classical — river as leading line, cliffs as vertical counterpoint, sky as drama — but the light is entirely specific to this afternoon, this season, this reach of the Gallatin. The storm building behind the left ridge has not yet arrived, and in that suspended moment between clear and broken, the canyon is lit with the kind of intensity that only comes when weather is on its way.
The Gallatin Canyon has drawn anglers, painters, and photographers for as long as there have been roads through it — the river fast and fishable, the cliffs photogenic from every angle, the combination of geology and autumn color producing compositions that seem almost pre-arranged. A: Every limited-edition fine art print is authenticated:
Signature: Each print is signed and numbered.
Certificate of Authenticity (COA): A formal Certificate of Authenticity is provided with every purchase. This document details the artwork title, total edition size, medium, and the specific number of your print (e.g., 5/100).
Provenance: This documentation verifies the print's origin and is essential for future appraisal or resale.
Q: What is the typical edition size for your work?
A: Edition sizes vary by image and reflect how repeatable the subject is. Most fall between 100 and 200; some are 50; a few are larger. Every image page states its own edition, and that number is fixed permanently the day it is published.
3. Ordering, Shipping, and Customer Service
Q: How long will it take to receive my print?
A: Since each limited-edition print is custom-crafted to your material and size specifications, production requires careful attention.
Production Time: Please allow 4 to 6 weeks for printing, finishing and quality control. Custom orders and the holiday season may run longer. Rush production is available at a 20-30% premium — contact me if you have a date to meet.
Shipping: Shipping times vary by destination, but tracking information is provided as soon as your artwork ships.
Q: How are the prints shipped, and are they insured?
A: All shipments are handled by professional art carriers and are fully insured against damage during transit.
Packaging: Prints are securely packaged in durable, custom-built crates or specialized art boxes designed to prevent damage.
Damage Policy: If your artwork arrives damaged, please contact me within 48 hours of delivery with photographic proof. I will immediately initiate an insurance claim and arrange for a prompt replacement at no cost to you.
Q: What is your return policy?
A: Due to the custom-made, limited-edition nature of the artwork, all sales are final once production has begun.
Once production has begun, changes cannot be made to the size, print medium, or image selection. Because production starts immediately and materials are custom-ordered for your specific piece, modifications are not possible after order confirmation.
