The Collection
Churchill, Manitoba
Churchill sits directly on the polar bears' fall migration corridor, which makes it one of the only places on earth where a concentration of bears can be reliably found on land, on a predictable schedule, every year. The images from Churchill in this collection range from single bears at rest to family groups and the occasional sparring match between males — behavior that only happens because so many bears are waiting in the same place at the same time.
Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, Alaska
ANWR offers none of Churchill's concentration — bears here are spread across a vast, largely inaccessible coastline, and a sighting is a matter of persistence rather than a predictable season. The images from this refuge are correspondingly rarer in this collection, and represent a harder, quieter side of polar bear photography than the Churchill work.
A Species Tied Entirely to Ice
Polar bears hunt almost exclusively from sea ice, using it as a platform to reach seals they cannot otherwise catch. When the ice is gone, bears wait on land, as they do every fall at Churchill, living on stored fat until the bay freezes again. That dependence on ice is the reason Churchill's bear-watching season exists in the specific weeks it does, and it shapes nearly everything about where and how these images were made.
What Makes This Collection Different
Every image here was made in the wild — no zoos, no game farms, no controlled settings, ever. Between Churchill's reliable fall concentration and the far harder work of finding bears along Alaska's Arctic coast, this collection covers both the accessible and the genuinely difficult sides of polar bear photography. Print Formats
Lumachrome HD TruLife Acrylic — a transparency print face-mounted to museum-grade acrylic. The medium's depth and luminosity suit polar bear photography particularly well — white fur against ice and open water renders with a three-dimensional quality flatter media cannot match. The TruLife face carries an anti-reflective coating and significant UV protection, which reduces glare and helps guard against fading in bright rooms. Arrives ready to hang.
Framed Lumachrome HD TruLife Acrylic — the same panel finished in museum-quality Roma Italian wood molding. Arrives ready to hang.
Chromaluxe Metal — dyes infused directly into aluminum for exceptional contrast and a clean, contemporary presentation, well suited to the high-key white-on-white tonal range of arctic images. Arrives ready to hang.
Museum-Quality Fine Art Rag Paper — heavyweight cotton rag with archival pigment inks. Arrives unframed for your own framing specification.
Prints are made from ultra-high-resolution medium format capture — 100 megapixel — for portraits and considered work, and from high-speed 35mm cameras where fast action demands it, including sparring bears. Both enlarge to 120 inches and beyond; the medium format files hold the finest detail at that scale, and each image is offered only at the sizes its own file genuinely supports. Architectural and mural-scale installations are produced through a separate custom process — contact me to discuss a specific wall.
Every print is signed and numbered and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity recording the title, date of capture, edition number, size, medium and materials. Everything ships fully insured. If a print does not arrive in perfect condition it is replaced immediately at no cost.
For Interior Designers and Corporate Art Consultants
Polar bear photography suits contemporary and coastal interiors especially well — the high-key white and blue palette works across a wide range of design schemes without competing with existing color. It reads powerfully in hospitality, corporate, and healthcare spaces where a calm, monochrome-adjacent palette is often specified. Trade pricing, room preview mockups, high-resolution digital proofs, custom sizing, and multi-piece collection pricing are available to verified design professionals.
