Basin Bend

Limited Edition of 50

Basin Bend on the Firehole river, Yellowstone. The Firehole river is surrounded by geothermal features which empty water into it. One effect of the input of this water is to increase the temperature of the water. Temperatures in the river have been measured as high as 30 °C (86 °F) and average 5 to 10 °C (9 to 18 °F) higher than areas upstream of geothermal influence.[4]

Water entering the river from geothermal features contains dissolved chemicals and minerals. Levels of boron and arsenic have been found to be above the standard limits for protection of aquatic organisms. Despite these levels, brown and rainbow trout live and spawn in the river.[4]

The morning glow

Limited Edition of 200 Exclusive high-resolution Museum Quality Fine Art Prints. Most Beautiful Morning in the Tetons. Cross buck fences are no more in most of the Teton Valley of the National park. An absolutely misguided decision which removed an historic icon of the Wyoming Tetons. The new and ugly fence is suppose to help wildlife migrate, which it had been doing with the existing fence for over 100 years . Why the existing fence could not have been lowered or opened ever few hundred yard is unbelievable. One reason the Teton Range is famous is because of the dramatic elevation profile visible from the eastern side, which rises sharply from 4,000 to 7,000 feet (1,200–2,100 m) above the valley floor. Unlike most mountain ranges, the east side of the Teton Range lacks significant foothills or lower peaks which might obscure the view. This is due to the presence of the Teton Fault at the base of the east slope as well as the range being too young to have eroded into soft hills. The Snake River flows southward through the valley before turning to the west and entering Idaho.
