Best of the Fabulous 4 corners area Workshop,

Monument Valley, Hunts Mesa, Antelope Canyons Photo Tour.

April 16-23

Join Jess in this workshop to the little photographed areas of the fabulous 4 corners region of Utah and Arizona. This photo tour will feature unique views and locations beyond the normal visitor locations. Most workshops to this area just visit the easy to reach places on the post card circuit. Not this trip. With us you can visit more remote and less photographed areas. Much of our adventure will have Navajo guides taking us to the places the non Native Americans are not allowed to go. We will show you how to explore capturing images of these great locations in ways to make your work stand out from the crowd.

Our Navajo guides are chosen for not only their knowledge of their homeland, but also for their skill, honed by years of working with professional photographers and film production companies. They will lead us to the most unique photographic locations in this icon of the American west. While doing this our guides will also tell us the stories and legends of their people in these sacred places.

Photographers come to Monument Valley, the Canyons and Hoodoos around Page Arizona every year seeking to capture great images of one of the world's most dramatic landscape locations. Spring foliage, great light, red rocks, hoodoo's and the amazing southwest canyons will make this photo tour enriching and rewarding. This instructional tour is designed and timed to hit the best color and light angles in this vast scenic area. We are able to be extremely productive thanks to Jess's decades of experience in this area. While other tours will have you setting at your computer during the harsh light of the day we will be traveling to our next location to be on the mark at the best time in the best light.

We will take you to the places beyond the normal Workshop view point.

Monument Valley

April 21th - We will depart well before sunrise to will meet our Navajo Guide for our first entrance into Monument Valley. We will explore compositions of the mittens silhouetted against the pre-dawn sky before proceeding to the Totems and dunes for sunrise. We will spend the rest of the morning photographing at locations such as the Anasazi ruins, Ear of the Wind and other locations off the beaten path available only to guided groups. We will spend time working to find the best composition and light angles available giving you opportunities most don't receive.

Our afternoon will be spent traveling to the top of Hunts Mesa where our guide will drop us off to catch the sweet evening light raking across Monument Valley as it can only be seen from this high vantage point. Meanwhile our guides will be preparing our evening campfire and dinner and be putting up our supplied tents and sleeping bags.

Hunts Mesa Workshop

April 22st - Before dawn once again, we will be in place to photograph one of nature most dramatic scenes as the sky changes from a faint pink to a bright orange, bouncing light off the red cliffs of the valley below. Late morning we will arrive back in Monument Valley for a short breather before rejoining our guide for an afternoon and evening of capturing the essence of Navajo land in Mystery Valley and Tear Drop Arch.

April 23nd - Sunrise will be in one of the less visited valleys on the southern edge of the Colorado Plateau plus a brief stop at the Goosenecks of the San Juan before returning to Page  and the end of this great photo workshop.
