Something a little cooler

Yellowstone Wolf Hunting

With the country heating up and mid August here I thought it would be nice to give you all something else to think about. Cooler weather will come and the wolves will hunt  their prey in the deep snow.
You may reconise this photo it was a National Wildlife Magazine cover a couple of years ago.

We got Eagles

Well after a week of hard work and a whole lot of smiling it is safe to say “We got Eagles”
About 50 gigs worth.
Thanks to a great bunch of folks on the this adventure.

Denali For Eagle Photographers

Not a great photo of Denali but a great bunch of people off to capture images of “the great one” .
These are folks from my Alaska Eagle trip who arrived the day before the trip. We were on a impromptu shoot the day before the trip officially begins. It was a great time and  bonus [...]

Would You Brag If you had a National Geographic Cover?

Well, I will brag about this one.

Midway Geyser Basin sunrise

Midway is one of my Favorite Locations. It doesn’t have the variety of other basins but the Firehole river and the orange/yellow outflow of the basin seem like a magic combination. On this morning we we lucky enough to be on the bridge just as the sun came over the terrace.

Winter comes to southern Arizona

Snow has come to southern arizona. Yesterday was like being back in Yellowstone with temps in the 20’s and several inches of snow reaching the valley floor. We are due for more so with any luck I will get a chance to photograph the rare scene of snow and saguaro cactus.
To see yesterdays images check [...]

Alaska Bald eagle trip openings

March is a great time for Alaska Eagle photography and we will be there with a group of photographers seeking out new locations and images of our national symbol. This trip will be to places in the great land (Alaska) that are off the normal workshop circuit in our quest for unique images of these [...]

Cold!

When running low on wildlife photo opportunities Yellowstone always provides plenty of others. We were shooting ice and frost patterns along the Lamar River last week with the usual +1 .5 compensation to get the exposure right with snow and bright lighting conditions,  when I decided I wanted to emphasise the cold by using super blue.
In [...]

Polar Bears could be one of our most threatened large mammals. Let think what we can do to protect these great creatures and we move through the New Year.
Best Wishes to all!

(yes another long winded post)

Churchill Red

Red Fox near Churchill. CA

Now the work begins after returning from our great trip to photograph the land and residents of  Hudson Bay near Churchill.
We found this guy sleeping as we explored the area where the Churchill River enters Hudson Bay.
Red Fox are very common this year but this guy gave us our best shots.
