The fight for what is left of the west.

I was recently ask  by one of our friends “What is wrong with the west?”  It is a great question.
What is wrong is that, “out west” is  what  is  left of America and the American ideal.  This doesn’t fit the pocket books of many in Washington DC [...]

We had visited and photographed this little band of wild horses a couple of days before this photo but they didn”t have this little one then.
I think it is doing a good job of keeping up with the Mare and Stallion.

Watching out for mom

This is a sow grizzly with 2 spring cubs at Lake Clark. The cubs were up a tree in the bush so we didn’t get to photograph them.
We photographed several other bears today but what struck me about this photo is how it shows what a different fraction of a second between shutter clicks portrays [...]

This is from an area often called the toadstools. It is not far from the BLM Contact station.
The area is getting to popular for my taste but it is a quick easy hike to stretch the legs after too much time driving.

Well today was the end of my short trip to central Arizona. It is starting to get warm here and the snowbirds are flocking north. I am just getting back to editing last years Katmai Coastal Boat trip photos and wanted to share a few of these cute mom and cub photos.
Going over the thousands of shots from this trip reminds me of what a special place this remote, undisturbed , land of the great bears is for now.
