Fun Places Lower Antelope

Some places are just fun to shoot. Antelope Canyon is one of those. Today was windy with a thin cloud cover, not the best conditions for slot canyons. Still this photo shows you can make great images if you open your mind and eyes. Usually during this time of year  light beams are the main [...]

Earth Day 2010. How was yours?

Earth Day 2010. I remember the first. I was in Boulder, Colorado doing that thing, at that time. Time has marched on but this morning I wondered how we as a nation have moved, forward or back?
I suppose today I should be old enough to accept that change takes time, but in reality I think [...]

Hunts Mesa Evening

We had a great evening our first afternoon out on the Monument Valley portion of this southwest workshop. This workshop is so good I will be adding another small group trip like this in October or early November of this year. If you are interested drop me a note at  jess@jessleephotos.com  since it will fill [...]

Sand and stone at Sunrise

This is from this morning on a quick scouting trip for the up coming workshop. It is a neat location with a great deal of possibilities.
Sometimes driving through Northern Arizona you would think it is just a wasteland but once you get past the somewhat starkness you look instide to see the true beauty of [...]

Leaving the valley of the sun.

Well today was the end of my short trip to central Arizona. It is starting to get warm here and the snowbirds are flocking north. I did finally find some nice flowers along the Superstitions last evening. As usual I found it best to shoot on the shady side of the mountain. This reduces contrast [...]

Would You Brag If you had a National Geographic Cover?

Well, I will brag about this one.

Midway Geyser Basin sunrise

Midway is one of my Favorite Locations. It doesn’t have the variety of other basins but the Firehole river and the orange/yellow outflow of the basin seem like a magic combination. On this morning we we lucky enough to be on the bridge just as the sun came over the terrace.

Last Cactus for a while

Well it is near time to head north for winter in Yellowstone.
With the rains and snow we have been getting it could be a good year for cactus and wild flower blooms. A few if’s remain to be seen and we won’t know for a few more weeks.
If we had enough moisture in November to [...]

Winter comes to southern Arizona

Snow has come to southern arizona. Yesterday was like being back in Yellowstone with temps in the 20’s and several inches of snow reaching the valley floor. We are due for more so with any luck I will get a chance to photograph the rare scene of snow and saguaro cactus.
To see yesterdays images check [...]
