In the bear world you not only have to catch the fish but you need to keep the fish long enough to eat it!
The bear with the salmon in this photo is also very good at eating on the run.

I am just getting back to editing last years Katmai Coastal Boat trip photos and wanted to share a few of these cute mom and cub photos.
Going over the thousands of shots from this trip reminds me of what a special place this remote, undisturbed , land of the great bears is for now.

Well, I will brag about this one.

There is something special about the first morning of an Alaska adventure. No other photographers, bush plane, boats or BS. Just us, the bears and the great land

Even the bears seem to be spreading the word. Me and one of my groups are back in Alaska. Lake Clark this time. We had a great bush ride in, landing  just before a 3 hour fog bank hit the beach, It gave us a little time to get our gear together and hit the [...]

We all knew it was coming. Now it is here. The NPS is making changes at Silver Salmon to make things more difficult for Photographers.
Some the the changes are small, some will help bears without affecting responsible photographers, but the biggie will change the photography here for ever.

While I do still have openings for this year I have secured the following dates for this great Alaska Adventure in 2010. Our June trip (Alaska Spring) featuring cubs and wild flowers will be June 27 – July 3rd. August dates are 22-29 just in time to head to Denali with me for Autumn colors.
