The great thing about this location is that you will be able to photograph theses beautiful bears (often with cubs) totally at ease with us in their home in a way most wildlife photographers have only dreamed of doing. Over the past 8 years and many trips Jess has help developed a safe and successful program of moving into the habitat of brown bears, being careful not to disturb the free-ranging nature of their movements. No permits are needed and no viewing platforms are used. Jess has chosen this location so you can experience these exceptional opportunities for unique images and peaceful encounters. |

Yes it is a great place and you could go on your own so why would you want to join Jess's Photo Workshops? One of the compelling reasons is to go with Jess is that you will be with a group dedicated to the goal of helping you to capture the best images possible. When you are on your own you will be grouped with others who may have goals such as casual sightseeing or fishing. The groups of independent tourist may not be interested in spending the time it takes to get that, only in your dreams shot. When you are with Jess the first goal will be for you to capture great photos. You will take advantage of Jess's long experience of knowing wildlife behavior and spending the time during the best light to bring home those photos only rarefy captured. Things like this don't happen with the casual tourist visitor groups even at a great location like ours. |

The majestic Brown Bear will be our main quarry but nearby pelagic bird populations, including horned and tufted puffins, black-legged kittiwakes and murres. Bald eagles, trumpeter swans, and harbor seals can also be targeted. . Scenic backdrops include volcanic Mt. Iliamna, Mt. Redoubt, and Augustine volcano, all part of Cook Inlet's "ring of fire." |

The timing for this trip is to enable you to be there during a small window of the short Alaska summer. A time when the flowers are blooming giving those special images of bears in lupine. Cubs are first becoming comfortable enough with people to perform in front of your lens. The end of the Brown Bear breeding season is at hand which may allow you to capture many unique play fighting and courtship rituals of the magnificent animals. This along with the longest period of sunlight of the year will give us a chance to fill hard drives and burn film capturing the antics of the great creatures like never before. |
